The Diana Street Lodge Hostel is a low care facility located on the same site as the Donwood Nursing Home. The Hostel is a 60 bed facility that is split into 3 wings. The Acacia Wing is dementia specific with 30 beds, located in this secure part of the facility. Lounges are provided with comfy lounge chairs for residents and visitors. The lounges and function room are also available to residents and families for family functions. Each wing also has its own kitchenette where residents and relatives are welcome to make tea and coffee at any time. The main dining areas and lounges are all centrally air conditioned and heated. The large dining room is situated in the middle of the facility which over looks the garden and main entrance. Residents/relatives are welcome to utilise the outdoor furniture located outside the dining room. The Hostel aims to create home-like surroundings for residents, with much attention to detail in the environment. Accommodation at the Diana Street Lodge Hostel Accommodation is in single rooms with full ensuite. All rooms are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to bring personal items to create a homelike atmosphere. A wall shadow box is provided for books and ornaments, and each room has a picture rail for resident's pictures and photographs. Furnishings include a bed, bed side chair, built in wardrobe and a writing desk. Each room has its own individual heater and overhead ceiling fan. Activities at the Diana Street Lodge Hostel A wide variety of activities are offered at the Diana Street Lodge Hostel, aimed to stimulate and entertain residents. There are planned activities from Monday to Friday, aimed at motivating residents mentally and physically. Exercise programs, aromatherapy, visiting entertainers, theme days, bingo, craft days, carpet bowls, are some examples, as well as regular Happy hour! Residents also have the opportunity to go on outings, and are encouraged to continue attending outside activities. Residents are also encouraged to make suggestions as to what activities they would enjoy. Regular church services are also held at Donwood, for those unable attend their own church. For those who like to read, the local library supplies books on a regular basis. Visitors are welcome at all times at Donwood. Services at the Diana Street Lodge Hostel Meals All meals are provided and are cooked on the premises by a qualified Chef and catering staff. Meals include breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and a light supper. We have a five-week rotating menu and are able to cater for residents with special dietary requirements such as diabetic, vegetarian, cultural etc. We are also able to cater for residents' likes and dislikes. Laundry All laundry is done on the premises in our modern laundry, by staff. Donwood has labelling machine for all residents clothing. Labels are ordered upon admission and the laundry staff arrange to have your clothing labelled. There is a small cost involved. Physiotherapy We have a physiotherapist on staff that is able to assist residents with any problems.A small charge is applicable for physiotherapy services at the Diana Street Lodge Hostel. Podiatry A podiatrist visits regularly. A small charge is applicable for this service at the Hostel. Other Services We have a hairdresser who visits regularly and prices are very reasonable. Appointments can be made through staff. We also have a dietician and a speech pathologist available, as well as many visiting consultants that provide a range of medical therapies.
